IF... Wings

“Black birds storms appear in the air,
a dark prophecy over Rouen sky”

Last October I was asked to contribute with an illustration to a limited edition of a book celebrating 40 years of career of  Italian singer and composer Alice. I immediately thought about illustrating the few verses above, taken  from a song by Italian musician Mino diMartino, included in Alice’s latest cd “Samsara”. The text of the song is an intimate, evocative portrait of Joan of Arc, strange topic enough for a pop music song! This is the genesis of this acrylic on paper (cm 30 x cm 25), which I titled “Il Cielo di Rouen” (Rouen Sky). Hope you like it!

Commenti

  1. How beautiful! The soft face and the poor bird are so quiet and in the sky it's totally different, with birds flying on their wings.

The mermaid

Currently working at two book projects! Hope they will both see the light by the end of 2019. This sketch is for the illustration of a poetry and travel memories collection by Italian poet Lidia Masci. Inspiring and challenging project. - The mermaid The sand smelled warm, she vanished at every caress of the wind. (Lidia Masci)

IF... Yesterday

IF... Intention

It was my firm intention to post something this week after such a long time! And I chose one of the illustrations created for the Sketchbook Project 2012, this is the drawing that takes its title from the theme of my Sketchbook: a path through the trees. Like some other illustations of the projects this is freely inspired by the novel "Il Barone Rampante" by Italian writer Italo Calvino, the story of a young Baron who one day climbs up a tree with the intention of spending the rest of his life among leaves and branches. Here you can view the entire project, comments and opinions are always welcome! the sketchbook project 2012
