IF... Jail


Little Dan is very very fond of meat! When his parents, coming back from a long journey in South Africa, took home a precious species of Drosera he immediately thought of putting it in jail. He let Bun the bird happily fly away to his former land (Japan) and closed the hungry plant in the brand new cage. But as Charles Darwin said, "The sundew is a wonderful plant, or rather a most sagacious animal..." So sagacious as to grow a thin leaf that could pass through the cage and reach Dan's dish. This is why now poor Dan to enjoy his favorite meat is compelled to have lunch at a restaurant every day.

IF... Intention

It was my firm intention to post something this week after such a long time! And I chose one of the illustrations created for the Sketchbook Project 2012, this is the drawing that takes its title from the theme of my Sketchbook: a path through the trees. Like some other illustations of the projects this is freely inspired by the novel "Il Barone Rampante" by Italian writer Italo Calvino, the story of a young Baron who one day climbs up a tree with the intention of spending the rest of his life among leaves and branches. The mermaid

Currently working at two book projects! Hope they will both see the light by the end of 2019. This sketch is for the illustration of a poetry and travel memories collection by Italian poet Lidia Masci.
